Communication through newsletters and social media

Sandra & Michael from Michael’s Butchers.Bistro.Deli. in Malmesbury contacted me in October 2020, with the request if I could help them market their Christmas and New Year’s Eve pre-ordering service.

They have been running their award winning family business for years, and although they do have a website, all their clients normally come to the shop to buy from the quality meat, deli and cheese counters.
2020 had been a very different year and with the second lockdown starting they were keen to increase their digital and social marketing channels to reach new clients and engage with existing ones, offering them alternative ways to order.

We agreed an “Increase Awareness” marketing project to support Michael’s Butchers arm of the business to expand its customer base. It is highly focused on increasing awareness in the local area, of the quality products, Christmas delicacies and free local delivery service. The project included regular email marketing “newsletters” to existing customers, including an online order form, and the creation of a Facebook Page and a linked advertising campaign, to reach a new audience / potential clients.

When the second lockdown, started Sandra and Michael took on the idea of creating meat boxes for delivery. Being a local, family business, they are keen to help their loyal customers during these unprecedented times, so they put together four different meat boxes, which can be delivered all through Lock Down (and beyond). This service was launched and marketed through their Facebook page and  Newsletter. The social media post went viral and reached a staggering 9210 people with 1200 engagements! (no adverts!). In the first month of the Facebook being launched, the page gained 244 followers, without £0.01 spent on advertising it!

Since then, I have been providing regular newsletters and social media posts and images for Sandy & Michael and have seen their business grow!

This project is a good example of the strength of Facebook/social media, for locally focused businesses. 

"Hi Nicolette, we thought we would let you know about a customer today. She was at Boston Airport yesterday evening waiting for her flight to the UK when she saw the post about our new BBQ products. She had a family party organised for Sunday and was worried about getting the food organised so she emailed us her order, we got it made and she collected this afternoon. One very happy customer!
